Special Olimpics 2018!
Regional winter games for athletes with intellectual disabilities are back on the slopes of the Wold area in Alagna and in Riva Valdobbia cross-country track. The disciplines involved will be alpine skiing, snowboarding, nordic skiing and snowshoe racing.
"The Special Olympics mission is to give the opportunity to train and compete in a variety of Olympic sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout the year, which allows them to develop and enhance their physical wellbeing, show courage, experience the joy of participating in a climate of continuous exchange. Activities are activated, friendships are established with other athletes, unique experiences are experienced together with the technicians, the volunteers, their families and the whole community. "
Special Olympics involved 4.7 million athletes in 169 countries and more than one million volunteers. In Italy the athletes are 16 thousand, the volunteers 10 thousand.
The dates of the initiative planned in Alagna and Riva Valdobbia, promoted and supported by the whole country, are Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st January 2018, an opportunity to get involved in a party full of sport, solidarity, music and entertainment!
